Accommodation Admissions Information

Guaranteed Undergraduate Students - Semester 2

If you believe you meet the conditions of the Accommodation Guarantee, please check your online accommodation status daily. The first round of accommodation offers will commence on the 25th of June, and will progress on a daily basis thereafter. It may be July before you receive your offer. Offers are sent to the email address which you provided on your original application so make sure it is checked often. If you have some kind of junk mail filter, you MUST check your junk mail box. If your online status says "Accom Offer Made" and you have checked your emails and have not found the offer email, please contact UAS immediately (02 6125 1191 or uni.accom@anu.edu.au) to enable us to resend your offer. Offers are only valid for 5 working days. If you have not responded in this time, your offer will be lapsed and the room will be offered to another applicant. This includes people who claim they did not receive the original email. Because of demand there can be NO exceptions.

Undergraduate Students NOT Guaranteed (did not apply on time, late round UAC offers, late ANU acceptances, continuing students, ACT residents)

Due to the high demand for accommodation in Semester 2, if you do not meet the requirements of the accommodation guarantee you need to start sourcing off-campus accommodation now. Offers will continue to be made where vacancies arise due to cancellation; however there is only a small chance of this happening. The private market in Canberra is experiencing heavy demand and the estimated time required to secure accommodation is approximately 4-6 weeks. It is essential to organise temporary accommodation before you arrive. UAS staff can assist you with enquiries about off-campus accommodation. Please see below for more information.

Post Graduate Students

Due to the high demand for accommodation, all post graduate rooms are now full. Offers will continue to be made where vacancies arise due to cancellation; however there is only a small chance of this happening. Post Graduate students need to start sourcing accommodation off-campus now. The private market is experiencing heavy demand and the estimated time required to secure accommodation is approximately 4-6 weeks.  It is essential to organise temporary accommodation before you arrive. Useful Resources for Off-Campus Accommodation

Housing Online - This is an online accommodation noticeboard that advertises private rental, share accommodation, private board and accommodation wanted. This website can be viewed from any computer (you do not need to be in the UAS office to access this site).

The Canberra Times - The Canberra Times newspaper will be a very useful resource. The property section on a Saturday advertises all of the rental properties in Canberra, and also has a large amount of share accommodation. On Wednesday there is a smaller property section.  You will need to be prepared to attend property inspections.

Domain - Great nationwide property website advertising properties for rent and to share.

Allhomes - Canberra based property website advertising properties to rent and share.

Canberra Map - Great map to get your bearings. Shows where city centres and suburbs are located. ANU is located in Acton (Canberra Central)

Action Buses - Canberra bus service website with routes and timetables.

Cycling Maps - Cycling in Canberra is very popular. Cycle paths wind throughout the whole city. Maps of the Canberra cycle paths can be purchased from the Pedal Power website.

Temporary Accommodation - Some options close to ANU for short term accommodation when first arriving in Canberra.

UAS does not have accommodation to let - you will need to search the above resources. UAS Staff can help you with enquiries regarding leases, the accommodation guarantee and issues with specific properties or general questions about renting in Canberra.
